does not work on iphone July 18, 2008

ordered these as an extra pair.
These do not work on the first generation (pre 3 G) iphone. Don't waste your time or money trying.
The iphone headphones are specific, you can't interchange headphones between the iphone and ipods ( at least some). these do work in my ipod ok , but are totally useless for what they are advertised for.
the clue, i phone earphones have three plastic rings visible on the plug, ipod and most headphones only have two. you need three rings on the plug to work on the iphone. Technically the third ring has something to do with turning off the external iphone speaker and sending the sound to the headphone
