I never owned an iPod, so I can't really compare, but this is a very good mp3 and video player. Friendly and easy to work with. The headphones that come with the player produce excellent sound quality. Voice recording quality very decent.
The only con I have is the volume control which is a little tricky (should have been mounted on the side, for better grip, in my opinion).
