Amazon.com Product Description Designed for any car, RV, or boat equipped with a cigarette lighter, the Jensen JP20 power inverter is an ideal device for drivers who need to entertain kids on long road trips or passengers who can't leave their work at home. The inverter works simply: just plug in an AC appliance, such as a small 13-inch TV or laptop computer, into the single AC outlet, and then connect the JP20's cigarette adapter into your vehicle's 12-volt DC port. Once connected, you can enjoy the benefits of any portable AC appliance while on the road, provided it doesn't consume more than 160 watts of continuous power (or 300 watts of peak power).

Beware of the output frequency: 63.8 Hz for my unit October 19, 2008 Tennyson Lee (Rocklin, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The unit I got has an output frequency of 63.8 Hz which is nearly 7% above the nominal 60 Hz. The unit also seems to run warmer than other models I've used under the same load. I've also noticed that several of the Xantrex inverters have much looser frequency specs compared to the last generation of inverters which were typically 60 Hz +/- 0.01%. Many of the current crop of these inverters have 60 +/-4 Hz which is 60 Hz +/- 7%. To be fair, I've noticed a number of inverters made by other companies also have relaxed this spec. I measured the output frequency of several models and found their outputs to range from 58 Hz to 64 Hz. I didn't test to see if the frequency changed with temperature, input voltage, load, or other other factors. I suppose the reason for this change in specs is that these manufacturers are now cost cutting to the extent of eliminating a 30 cent quartz crystal. The frequency variation is most likely to cause problems (speed changes and overheating) in devices with AC motors, but it will also cause inaccuracies in devices that use the AC line frequency for timing purposes.
works as promised September 7, 2008 T. Gross (Chicago, IL USA) I am pleased so far. I had my computer plugged into the unit for several hours during a drive to the east coast, and I have had my iPhone plugged into it a number of times in my Smart car, and it has always worked fine.
Works fine August 13, 2008 G. Beck (NY) We bought this to power a laptop in a Honda Pilot. It works fine. The dual outlet wasn't in stock when we bought this. I would suggest buying the dual outlet because it is only cost slightly more.
Works Great! July 30, 2008 David A. Miller (San Dimas, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Does what it's suppose to do. Recharged several items (GPS, bluetooth, cell phone, etc.) during a recent family trip, and it was quiet and unobtrustive. Only thing to mention is that it should be turned off or unplugged when starting the vehicle; otherwise it will make a high-pitched squeal. But that is a minor issue, and I am very content with this product.
Works wonderfully! July 26, 2008 M. Vanwyk 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this for my campervan when I stay somewhere without an electrical hookup. I can run it for hours powering my 40 watt LCD TV/DVD player and it doesn't even get hot. TV works without a problem, you would think it was plugged into a normal outlet. The unit is whisper quiet. In fact, I don't recall hearing any noise at all! The thing just works as advertised. I wish everything would!
