This is a cool product to have on your desk. It comes with an integrated speaker stand that charges the unit while it's docked. You can listen at work with the speakers, or take the D-NE329SP on the road. And, of course, you can use the headphones anytime you want. It's flexible like that. It will play your regular CDs, but you can also make your own mixes, with up to 4901 songs on one CD-R/RW. It has a 3-Line LCD so you can quickly navigate through your music, and it has 18 playback modes for even more flexibility.

An attractive way to make the most our of your desk space, the speaker stand sports a pair of integrated stereo speakers and allows you to simply detach the Walkman when you're ready to move out into the world and listen to your favorite CDs through your headphones. And when you're ready to use the Walkman as a portable listening device, the player's Skip-Free G-Protection technology will be ready to provide you with quick recovery from both horizontal and vertical shocks.  Sound Quality Fair May 8, 2007

For the price we paid for this product, the sound quality is fair for such small speakers, though I am only using it at my desk at work and I can't have loud volume anyway. Even when using the speakers and everything's plugged in, you still end up going through a lot of batteries for the CD player itself, or you have to use long-lasting lithium batteries because the CD player only holds one AA battery. Mostly this product is just fine.

Great sound, and nice feature in that you can detach it from its external speakers and use it as a conventional CD "walkman." The controls aren't that intuitive, however, and the instructions are somewhat lacking -- it took me quite a while just to figure out how to turn the thing off!

I'm very happy with the Sony D-NE329SP MP3/ATRAC3 CD Walkman with Speaker Stand. It's perfect for the bedside, which is why I purchased it. It doesn't take up a lot of room and the sound is terrific. It has all sorts of functions that I'll need to read the manual to use, but you can just hit the PLAY button as well. It does come with software for converting to the ATRAC3 format if you want, but MP3s work too.

Very good product. Really good sound also portable. Only problem is you have to take out your CD player each time from the speaker sustem when you load new CD, otherwise excellent.

I thought the speaker stand would have battery house & it would work on the go, but the speaker will work only when you connect the whole thing to a power outlet.
The voice quality is good. How about waiting for portable dvd-mp3 player? 4 GBs of mp3s is equal to iPod mini.
