Amazon.com Product Description With its built-in docking station and clean, contemporary design, the iHome iH5 clock radio is the perfect complement for your Apple iPod digital music player. Not only does the iH5 let you listen to your iPod music free from cumbersome headphones, it also lets you fall asleep or wake to music you've loaded into your iPod. You can also wake or sleep to FM/AM radio or wake to a traditional buzzer. The compact unit measures roughly 9 x 3 x 6 inches (W x H x D) yet comes complete with stereo speakers, drift-free digital FM/AM radio tuning, a multifunction LCD with adjustable backlighting, and the ability to charge your docking iPod's battery right from its center seat. (The iH5 includes handy inserts to accommodate any type of docking iPod: gen 3, gen 4, iPod mini, or iPod photo.) Immediately upon plugging it in and the clock will set itself, drawing on its factory-installed 100-year calendar (year/month/day, 2000 to 2099). The clock will maintain accuracy all on its own, even self-adjusting for Daylight Savings time and leap years. Fall asleep to your favorite station or a carefully chosen iPod playlist using the unit's programmable sleep timer (15 to 120 minutes in 15-minute increments). Gradual Wake and Gradual Sleep features will increase (with on wake-up) or decrease (on sleep) the system volume so as not to startle you. Adjustable sleep volume lets you select a comfortable "sleep" volume level without affecting the wake-to or listening volume levels. A supplied analog audio interconnect affords hookups with non-docking iPods, other MP3 players, cassette players, or other audio devices. Other features include automatic frequency control (AFC) for enhanced FM reception, an amber backlight on all primary buttons, and optical knobs for precise volume/tuning. For extra security, if you've selected iPod as your wake-to source and your iPod isn't docked, a buzzer will sound instead. The clock also comes with Sure Alarm battery backup--just install 2 AA batteries to activate the feature. In the event of a power failure, or if you disconnect the AC power cord to move it, the Sure Alarm system will maintain your clock and alarm setting for the life of the batteries, ensuring that the alarm will sound at the set time. The iH5 is "Made for iPod"-certified by Apple. What's in the Box Clock radio, a stereo analog audio interconnect, dock inserts for any type of docking iPod (gen 3, gen 4, iPod mini, iPod photo, iPod nano), an AC power adapter, and a user's manual with warranty information.

My iHOME speakers just died! September 9, 2008 Mark Basler I bought this about a year ago and now the speakers don't work. What a waste of $100! I am now using the iPOD with a power adapter and an external set of computer speakers. I will not by another iHome product!
Three strikes and You're Out September 8, 2008 D. Mercado I ordered the Ihome iH5 in white and received the iH8, iH9 and the iH55 in black and grey, no white and no iH5. Target and Ace photos just sent me what they had in stock. Only after the 3rd attempt did I call Ace Photos and instructed them to credit my account. They informed me then the my iH5 was discontinued. WHY didn't Target and Ace Photos just call me and inform me of the discontinuance of this product!!:Instead we played mail and return products 3 times. I finally purchased an Altec Lansing Fm radio/ipod player for $99.00 from J&R who delivered the product in two days to my total satisfaction. Amazon, Target and Ace Photos..get it together for the sake of other customers. I will not order again from either three. This is not the proper way of conducting business. I am totally disgusted with this occurance.
Bad design, substandard construction materials, horrid customer service. August 14, 2008 TopDownTony (Chicago, IL United States) Pros: It does what it says . . . it charges the iPod while you dock it. Cons: The dials on the top. Easily discolored plastic. The customer service was unsympathetic. Overall, it really is an aesthetically displeasing product (from my perspective). I find the design to be dated. The quality of the plastic is substandard, as is the quality of the lighting components. Had I not received it as a gift, I would never have owned it. The round dials on the top have always been an issue, as these allow you to set the time and alarm. Spinning them endlessly until you reach the desired time is really a bother. DO NOT plan to place the iH5 in a window if it's white. The plastic will discolor from white to a toasted almond color. The light has failed completely, (its failure started as merely a flicker). When customer service was contacted, they first said to send it in for a $40 repair. When I said that this was unacceptable, they offered to repair it for $10. I remarked that this was still unacceptable and that the failure of the light was not something that should be tolerated in the first couple of years of owning the product.
It's a great alarm clock June 21, 2008 Abram Bender (Seattle, WA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
In respect to this product, it is unfortunate I do not wish to be literally alarmed when I awake. The iPod comes on at whatever volume you set, but within a few seconds increases to the maximum the unit can produce. The company apparently fixed this problem in later revisions, but the fact that they offered no real remedy for those of us with defective units leaves me with an expensive pair of mediocre speakers.
