Amazon.com Product Description When hot looks and great sound are the order of the day, JBL's 2-piece Duet PC speakers offer smooth, accurate, and full-bodied sound without the need for a separate stand-alone subwoofer. That's not to say the 6 watts per channel pair will slam like a higher-power satellite-sub system would--but JBL's patent-pending Phoenix TSR (Tangential Strain Relief) drivers deliver more bass and lower distortion than similar-sized conventional PC speakers, thanks to the their controlled linear excursion. The emphasis, then, is on quality, rather than merely quantity, of sound. Further, Duet's proprietary SlipStream port enhances the speakers' bass performance for an impressively wide frequency response of 60 to 20,000 Hz. Incredibly easy to set up and use, the Duet system offers clean, crisp listening at an affordable price. Neodymium magnets heighten the speakers' power and sensitivity, and the speakers operate on AC power through a supplied AC/DC adapter. What's in the Box Two speakers, connecting cables, an AC power adapter, a user's manual, and warranty information.

Form AND Function June 28, 2008 Garv (upstate NY) I was looking for small speakers that were nice looking but well rated. These definitely were the right choice. Excellent sound, small profile & they look great on my desk---a home run.
Nice for the price December 27, 2007 JK I bought my Duets some 1 1/2 years ago for under $40 (w/ shipping). Was looking for cheap but decent speakers for my laptop at work. Still pleased to this day. They're no-frills, some distortion at high volume (check your EQ), low end isn't all that low, but none of this should be a surprise to anyone w/ a functioning brain. Sound quality is pleasant, surprisingly clean. Some of my colleagues have much better and much more expensive speakers, but I don't care. I go to work to work. (Also, I know my home equipment is far better than theirs)! Some of my colleagues bought the Bose MusicMonitor. Bad decision. Hint: If you're looking to spend that much money ($350-400) for computer speakers, check out Audio Engine's A5B's - nothing comes close, and the Bose MusicMonitor isn't even in the same galaxy. For $40, the Duets deliver quite nicely. NOTE: If you're willing to spend twice as much, there are better speaker systems out there. But everything is relative. For $40, it's hard to do better than the Duets.
Work Well for Me February 7, 2007 Alexandra S. Langstaff (Dorset, VT USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
These are my traveling speakers for teaching dance. The volume is loud enough without distortion to capture the attention of even the wildest kids. They weigh next to nothing and I'm glad NOT to have the option of using batteries!
"An absolutely superior product!" January 20, 2007 Steven P. Kwiatkowski (Chicago, IL USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have owned several pairs of PC speakers in the time I've owned a computer but until now I've had to continue to search. My search is finally ended. This pair of JBL Duet PC Speakers are the finest sounding "computer" speakers I have ever heard. I hooked them up yesterday immediately after receiving them and have not been able to stop listening to them. The bass response is incredible for the size of the speakers! After I EQ'd them they were even better. Yes, the on/off volume control is a little slippery and hard to turn if you don't hold the speaker but I got past that real fast when I heard them. I'll be glad to deal with a tiny issue like that knowing what I have in sound. Anyone who purchases the JBL Duets should be extremely pleased.
Great little speakers! December 17, 2006 KeriJane (Chicago IL USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Pros - These great little speakers provide rich, full sound. They also are very compact, stylish and are simple to hook up. Cons - The Chrome volume knob is a little slippery and sometimes difficult to adjust. Obviously these speakers cannot compete with a Subwoofer-equipped set but they do a remarkable job. They are best suited for someone with limited desktop space or no inclination for more complex setups.
