Audio Book Bugs Look No Further! February 26, 2008 CA Reviewer (LA, CA) The SanDisk SDMX2-1024 Sansa e140 1 gb audio player is everything I wanted. Extremely easy to operate once I figured it out, runs forever on a single battery, great memory for audio books with an additional 2gb expansion slot. My friend got one that defaulted to Japanese but we fixed the problem on the menu. The price is stupendous for the amazing quality of sound. Radio pick-up is excellent. I don't download music and bought it for books and could not be more pleased.
Great but 1 flaw January 26, 2008 Sodyna Or This player is small and lightweight. I carry it in my pocket when exercising and you barely know it's there. There is an armband that comes with it + the cover if you don't have pockets. Adding songs is simply drag in drop in Windows Explorer. The screen can light up blue when you press a button and automically turns off. You can change the brightness of it too. It works seemlessly with the SD card, but using an SD card means it powers up a little slower because it has to do a seperate "check" for the SD card slot otherwise it treats the card like internal memory. Plugging the player into the computer, the player will show up as two seperate drives 1 for the player's internal memory and 1 for the SD slot. The best part for me is that it very handy for transferring files so it is very convenient since I transfer work from school to home and vice versa. The bad part about this player is that it has no playlist function. You're stuck with either play by song name, artist, album, play all, etc. So you might find yourself skipping over several songs in your library because you might not want to listen to that particular track right now or maybe you just want to listen to tracks you've recently added. Overall, good player, but lack of a playlist function is inconvenient.
Sandisk E140 January 18, 2008 L. Raap (Cincinnati, OH USA) Screen too small and if you stop in the middle of a song it doesn't save your place in the song.
Cheap, pretty dependable, but sometimes... December 26, 2007 Rick Myers (McKinney, TX USA) The features on this player are outstanding for the price. I was impressed by the ability to expand the memory, the built-in FM receiver, and the size of the player. However, not being able to use playlists, no rechargeable battery are drawbacks. There are strange quirks with it too, mixing up tags on songs, and the sometimes very slow startup of the unit is annoying at best. It takes some time for the unit to respond and advance to the next song when you hit the forward button, but once you get used to it it's ok. I would rate this about a C-.
