Great for temporary connections January 22, 2008 Patrick Jones (New Orleans, LA) I bought this to help recover files from "dead" computers, both my own and for customers. It is very convenient to plug in an external drive without cracking open your case. I have used it with both XP and Vista, and on a variety of hard drives (old and new) with perfect success. Be sure to connect the cables as outlined in the instructions on the box. Caveats: if you want to use a drive as a permanent external drive, you are probably better off getting an external enclosure. This product is really intended for temporary connections. Also, this item is not as portable as you might like, mainly because the power adapter is large (almost as big as my notebook's). Nevertheless, this is a great tool for the money.
Great product March 7, 2007 Nadine L. Rahim (Miami, FL United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was exactly what I needed. I used a skybox and had this item delivered to Trinidad & Tobago. Fast delivery, great product.
does it come with a power supply for the drive? January 19, 2007 fence post! (chico, CA) 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
is it simply not pictured? there are others available with a power supply that gives the drive 12v and 5v for $15 delivered if it doesn't have a power supply then I guess you are supposed to open your computer case and hope there is a spare power connector in there. without the power supply I dont think it is worth the $6 you save
works as advertised January 15, 2007 DM (nj) Simple to hook and and simple to use. Plug it in and your external hd shows up in explorer just like any other drive or usb device. Note: You must first format the hd.
Multiple uses for this product January 5, 2007 Renovatus Man (Washougal, WA USA) I originally sought this product to be able to pull files from an old computer that I had replaced, and kept the hard drive when I recycled it. Not only did this simple product work for that, but it also gives me a backup harddrive for digital pics that I have on DVD. This allows for several sources of backup in case one goes bad. It has more than paid for itself because it is used regularly instead of once.
