Works well with Windows XP and Windows Media Player December 31, 2008 Michael Beavers (Cedar Park, Tx) Works nicely with no additional software required. Plugged it in and easily ripped a CD to it using Windows Media Player. The player itself is somewhat large (hence the 4 stars) but for the price it can't be beat. Made my cousin's Christmas since he had been wanting one of these for quite some time.
consumes power when off December 21, 2008 L. Levine 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Have not had this long, but here are some initial comments: PRO - o.k. deal for the 10 bucks I paid; great as a spare and disposable unit - no software required, no battery needed to use as a thumb drive - voice recorder seems to work well; records at a decent bit-rate - good set of built-in functions - good manual on disk CON - it seems to consume power even when off - "menu button" (top) seems poorly designed; mine is finicky about the way you press it; I suspect this switch is prone to failure OVERALL I regard this unit as a convenient "thumb drive plus" that I can casually carry along. Main thing to remember is to remove the battery when not needed. (Or block one contact with a narrow strip of plastic film - pull to remove.) But for heavy-duty listening or recording, I'd rather use one of my sturdier devices.
Nice Item December 12, 2008 D. Watkins This MP3 Player is nice. I got it at a nice price and it's good for a first MP3 player.
Great X-mas Gift!!!!! December 4, 2008 William C. Diemer (Salisbury Mills, New York USA) I purchased this item after seeing them advertised in a local paper. All I can say is - GREAT PURCHASE. For those of you who can not afford the pricey I-PODs, this is a great purchase for you. Downloaded 140 songs (and there is room for a few more) and the sound is FANTASTIC. I've been using for 3 days & the battery is still 1/2 full... Only flaw is the head-phones, cheap. But all in all - a great purchase.
10$ and worth of it. November 11, 2008 L. Koeb (Hillsboro OR, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this player for 10 $ and i think its worth that. I wouldn't pay much more for it. The headphones are realy cheap, but what do you want for 10$ ?? I buy better headphones anyway, they really have to fit for running. So i dont care about that to much. The Player is just the right size, it looks a little bit big when docked to a USB-port, but beside that i like it. There is a USB-cord in the package, so you dont have to worry about to less space at the ports. The player is all made of plastic. The switches are not high quality, but they do the job you expect from them. The plastic from the housing is kind of soft-rough, so its pretty hard to get scratches in it, and it feels good to touch it. When i got the package, i was kind of shoked, because the player was in a very childish package. If i saw that in a store, i definitly would not buy it, just because of the package. Once the package was gone, I felt much more mature again ;-) I use linux as operating system, and it works perfect. Just plug it in, drag your music on it, unplug it, listen to it. Simple as that. The menu on the player is pretty simple. Just play around a little and you will be fine with it. The player has a built in voice recorder, that is actually pretty good, the quality of your voice is very clear. I doubt its good for recording any music, but thats not realy the point of it. Pros: - Easy to use, works fine without any program on your computer like a USB-stick. - The best peace of plastic you can own for 10$. - Uses AAA batteries, no worries about some intern accu that dumps the whole player after a year. It runs aprox 4-6 hours on one battery. - The quality of the music playback is pretty good. Not ultra high quality, but enjoyable. Cons: - No "aaaahhh" effect when you show it to your friends. There is simply no fruit printed on it ;-) - Cheap headset.
