Works...a little... November 22, 2008 S. Marsh This product is not worth the little money that it costs. I bought a Sony receiver for my car, and it took me forever to even find out which iPod adapter to use with the receiver because Sony doesn't publish this information anywhere. So I bought this adapter, and installed it easy enough. There are a LOT of wires for the installation, which was surprising, but it was easy enough. I turned the stereo on and sure enough, there was an additional "Source" that says PD. I went to the source, and my iPhone started playing!! SUCCESS!!! Well, not quite. On the iPhone, it says that this device wasn't made to work with an iPhone, do you want to continue? Sure. The music plays fine and sounds great. That is, until you turn the system off. There are 2 possibilities when turning your car off: 1. Leave the ipod attached and walk away from the car. If I do this, the player STARTS OVER AT THE FIRST SONG when it is turned back on. 2. Detach your ipod and take it with you. When you do this, it remembers which song you were playing, but it starts over at the beginning every time. Either way, all settings such as shuffle and repeat are forgotten every time the player starts up. What a drag. Unfortunately, the only solution is to buy a whole new receiver, so I guess I'm stuck with this thing.
This Item works good with my Car stereo BT5100. August 11, 2008 G. Hernandez I thought i would have trouble using this product cause of some of the reviews but i bought this along with my Sony Car stereo,BT5100, and it works great with this stereo. No Problems so far and its a good addition to what my stereo offers already. I Don't have to even touch my ipod and it charges it while its plugged to the ipod adapter.
Not too bad. May 2, 2008 The Kevinator (Stuart, FL USA) I have this item connected to the marine stereo(CDX-F50M)on my boat. Even though the box said it was not compatible with my particular Sony stereo I tried connecting it anyway and what do you know......IT WORKED!! I do have to admit, it is a little slow when it comes to scrolling through the albums and playlists but I like it because it keeps my ipod away from the outdoor elements. It was very reasonably priced too. Less than 8 bucks!!
you want your money back and compensation for being expose to it January 2, 2008 Gael Westby (nyc) I agree with all reviewers! The worse is that I'm stuck with a installed sony stereo is a super crapy ipod connection
Buy The XA-120IP Instead November 13, 2007 Drop 6 (Phoenix, AZ United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just installed this into Sony's XAV-W1 Video Deck. It worked, but it -reset randomly -only showed 1 line of text at a time -incompatible with other add-ons like Sirius & HD Radio unless used with $100 XA-C40 Adaptor -terrible navigation lag & user interface -No video BOTTOM LINE: Skip This unless You Are Desperate For any iPod integration P.S. As I write this there is supposedly an upgrade model (Sony XA-120IP), but I do not know what upgrades were made or what decks are compatible with the new model. Good Luck!
