Fun doll (CA USA)
Ordered it for Christmas for my husband, the first one arrived and was just an empty shipping box! Notified Amazon, and they shipped out another one quick! Whew! Thanks Amazon! Now for review of the product:
Small, compact, great screen!
Easy to navigate (once I learned all the functions).
Drag and drop songs from within Windows..can't get easier than that!
Songs sound great! Different sound settings, makes it more custom to your preference.
Supplied software (jetAudio) really easy to install and work with to convert movie files, and compatible with Windows Vista Ultimate x64. At least for me it is.
Battery time is great. I had to wait in Urgent Care for over 3hrs to see a Dr. for my daughter and she was content watching movies all that time and still had plenty of bars left on the battery!
Can't comment on the headphones because I also purchased a pair of V-Modas V-MODA Bass Freq Earbuds - Bling Bling Blackfor him and that is what has been used.
My son has a couple of Ipods, and he says that he wants a cowan now. We all love it, poor hubby, it started out as a gift for him, but he has used it the least!
Outstanding player for the money December 9, 2008

This player seems to do it all with great sound! I have the 4gb with a 4gb sd card but am getting a 16gb for a total of 20gb! It's small, has great battery life and supports all the formats that I use. I've used the video converter on the software provided and it works really well. As a music player I don't think the sound can be surpassed, even by the more popular brands (ie: i-something). Even the voice recorder is very good. The only down side I've found is that the fonts on the menu are small and I cannot read them well without glasses. It would also be nice if the battery were replaceable. Some first time Cowon users may find that the menus are in layers that require multiple taps to search through for what you want. I've had a smaller cowon player for years and you get fast at it with use. Your finger works well so I'm not even using the stylus. You may not find service readily as some reviewers have noted but we live in a throw away world and I've found that repairs usually cost more than replacement. A wonderful player!!!
 Touch screen - Top menu line no longer works after less than 1 month! December 9, 2008

At first I loved this player.
But, after less than a month, the top line of the menu won't respond (bottom line of menu works fine). Pressing reset does not help.
This did not happen after any kind of trauma. I put the player (while turned on) into my pocket while I was carrying things in from the car. It never worked right after that short pocket trip. Weird.

I am very pleased with the Cowon D2. I spent a lot of time researching MP3 players and have not been disappointed with my choice. Thus far, I have only used it to listen to audio books from Overdrive, and podcasts. It is great for both. Another plus is the terrific battery life. My son, an audio engineer, has used it to listen to music and is very impressed with the sound quality. Overall it is a great product.

The sound quality and feel of the player are excellent. However after 4 months of light use and no accidents, the LCD screen developed a crack. Player still worked but since it was under warranty, I followed the awkward customer service rules and shipped it to their Irvine service center ... to receive a bill from an Ebay address telling me to send on over $67. No warning that they would bill me even though they already knew the problem (and that it is impossible for a customer to prove they didn't mistreat the player), no explanation. Other reviewers have had the same problem.
Things break and I can take that. I would have preferred no warranty, rather than this inconvenient charade. COWON please take note.
