Product Description Using the YDS-10, you can enjoy iPod audio, images and video, use the On-Screen Display to operate the iPod, operate the iPod via the receiver's remote control and charge the iPod.
Amazon.com Product Description There are several iPod docking stations on the market, but few are as convenient as the YDS-10, which is custom designed to work with Yamaha's HTR-5960, HTR-5950, RX-V659, and RX-V559 home theater receivers. Connection is easy--simply plug the dock into the Yamaha receiver's rear-panel port. Once connected, the dock not only charges your iPod and plays your favorite playlists through the receiver's stereo or surround speakers, but it also shows iPod images and movies through an attached monitor. It's the perfect setup for people who regularly download TV shows from iTunes but want to watch them on a big TV. The rest of the time, you can rock out to all your favorite songs with style. Just as impressively, the YDS-10 lets you operate your iPod from across the room using the receiver's remote control and onscreen display, so you don't need to rise off the sofa each time you want to change selections. Connecting your iPod to a home theater system has never been easier or sounded so good. The YDS-10 is compatible with 4th and 5th generation iPods (with click wheels), the iPod mini, and the iPod nano. What's in the Box Dock, connection cable, iPod adapters, user's manual.

Nice little setup January 6, 2009 P. Mundy (Simsbury, CT) While it would have been jice for Yamaha to include I-POD dock with the speaker bar, the product works as advertised with the speaker bar and the cost was very reasonable compared to other dealers for this specialty item with limited availability.
Great Option for the Yamaha Receiver December 29, 2008 New Jersey (Parsippany, NJ United States) The concept of the IPOD dock is simply great. I was surprised to learn that it is an available option AFTER we bought the receiver. It's such an important accessory, that one would think the Yamaha marketing folks would have included it in the point of sale materials. Go figure. Anyway, it is simple to install and easy to use. I would definitely recommend it to anyone with an IPOD. Playing music from the IPOD is certainly easier than selecting CD's to play and then inserting them into a CD changer. Now that we have the IPOD dock, we may no longer need to have a multi-CD /DVD player. When it comes time to upgrade to a Blue-ray, we may only need the single CD/DVD player which will $ave a few shekels.
Great Product December 21, 2008 I. Rodriguez This product works great with my Yamaha receiver, Amazon did a great job delivering this product in a day and half. I rate Amazon.com as the #1 company for fast delivery and product quality.Yamaha YDS-10 Universal iPod Dock for Select Yamaha Home Theater Receivers
Video Not Compatible with Yamaha Receiver RX-V363 September 26, 2008 Matt M. (Houston, TX USA) I recently purchased an entry level Yamaha 5.1 receiver (model RX-V363). I have been very happy with the receiver and liked the idea of integrating an Ipod dock. However, after I received the dock and spending several hours trying to troubleshoot, I stumbled on an Amazon.com review for the RX-V363 that seemed to indicate I had wasted my time. Apparently, the YDS-11 menu and video capabilities are not compatible with the RX-V363 (the other reviewer learned this after the fact from a Yamaha tech). The RX-V363 remote operates the Ipod (I have an 80GB classic) just fine, but it is of limited use since you have to be standing within two feet to read the Ipod display. The sound of the YDS-11 is fine. However, as the other reviewer noted, you might consider the Tekkeon Navdock instead of this unit as the Tekkeon has full video and menu capabilities. Essentially, if you have a RX-V-363, you are buying a $60 charger that allows you to hide the input in the back of your receiver and leave the video/aux input on the front of the receiver free for something else or simply to leave open without unsightly cords. Not a great use of $60 as far as I am concerned.
Tom C September 1, 2008 Tom Crews In spite of my effort to ascertain that this product would work with my 40 G color IPOD, it does not. Big disappointment.
