Do not buy, not worth the effort to replace one dead battery with another that doesn't hold the charge.

The instructions were basically too tiny to read so i searched google for instructions and voila. The tools provided worked very well and I was surprised at how easy my 3G was to open. The original battery was holding a charge erratically managing 2 hours sometimes and 10 minutes at other times ( on a full charge) and after the 5 minute process of opening the case and installing this battery it now works like a charm. I accidentally ordered two but I will keep the extra one handy for future use.You really can't beat the price.

It takes some patience to open the iPod. Then I had to be careful disconnecting the old battery and setting the new one. The most difficult part was reconnecting the hard drive, but with some patience it works fine. The battery works and the iPod lives again.
Update: The battery started to warm too much, so I changed the battery again. Third life for the iPod. May be the iPod is reaching the end of it's life.

With S&H I paid $18 for the new battery and easily installed it myself. I was quoted $60 at the Ipod store for one of its reps to do the same thing. You do the math.

The replacement was a bit difficult just because of how tough the iPod was to open, but eventually things worked well. Unfortunately it was a waste because the iPod was just so old and things were so messed up that I had to buy a new one.
