Amazon.com Product Description
Put your headphones in storage and enjoy full freedom of movement while listening to your iPod with the Altec Lansing iM3c portable iPod speaker system. The iM3c comes with a built-in docking station that not only holds most dock-connecting iPods, but also syncs and charges them, so you don't need to independently connect your iPod to your Mac or PC to sync your iTunes playlists. More importantly, the speaker system sounds crisp and full bodied, with four custom-designed 1-inch neodymium microdrivers and an integrated MaxxBass system that rounds out the low- frequency response.

The iM3c is a must for backyard parties and beach barbecues, as it not only folds up into a compact 8-by-5.5-by1.1-inch footprint (W x H x D), but also runs for more than 24 hours on four AA batteries (not included). Other details include a wireless remote control; an auxiliary input for connecting a second audio device; a universal power supply for listening at home; an auto shutdown function; and a protective carrying bag for easy transport. Compatible with the iPod 3G, iPod 4G, iPod mini, iPod photo, iPod video, and iPod nano, the iM3c weighs a mere 15 ounces and is backed by a one-year warranty.

What's in the Box
iM3c mobile speaker system, universal power supply, iPod docking adapters, protective carrying bag, quick connect instructions, user's manual.

5 out of 5 stars Great sound, great buy   November 25, 2008
Manuel Aponte Galindo (Lake Charles, LA)
Great sound, it's very light and portable, don't ask for full bass sound it's just portable speakers, however this little device does deliver a full range sound experience, I got it for a friend, she just bought the new Ipod Nano and when I saw it I bought one for me too!

5 out of 5 stars Great for portable use   October 31, 2008

I have had a previous version of this device for a while. I've been very happy with it except for the fact that it eats batteries when left powered on. This version fixes that problem. My wife and I like to fall asleep with podcasts playing on our iPod. The iPod will power down when finished with a playlist. We cue up a few while we are camping and then listen just like at home. The old version of this device would stay powered after the iPod was done playing. This used up our batteries way too fast. The new version will go to sleep when the audio is completed. No more dead batteries. Thanks for the fix! We leave the old one by the bed at home now since it can be powered by AC. This one stays in our "ready-to-go kit" for traveling. We are happy campers!

3 out of 5 stars Great Product, Poor Customer Service   October 15, 2008

I have always loved Altec Lansing products. This is no exception. However, pray that you never need service on these units. I lost one of the battery covers on the back and was told I needed to send the entire unit in just for the battery cover. So, I did. Seven months later I still haven't received my unit back. At this point I don't think I will ever get it back and am considering purchasing another unit of a different brand. I can't even get a response to any of my inquiries as to the status of the unit. Sad!

5 out of 5 stars Great product, especially for travel   September 3, 2008
Travel Geek (University)
I had the chance to use one of these a couple of years ago, but didn't end up buying one at that time. However, I recently made an extended trip to Africa, and wanted something portable with decent sound quality. Against my knowledge of this product, I purchased a JBL unit and took it with me. The JBL ATE the AAA batteries! After a couple of hours, the batteries were totally dead - I spent a small fortune on batteries. This unit uses double As, and it will run on those batteries alot longer than the JBL unit, I believe they advertise 24 hours on a fresh set of batteries, but I haven't tested that, but I do know that it's close. Not only that, but the sound on the JBL couldn't compare to this item. I ended up giving the JBL away and bought this one when I got home.

AND.... the JBL does not pack up as small as this one does. This unit folds up into a small square, about the size of a paperback book. A great item in the mid price range.

The JBL is a prettier unit (although it scratched and looked old after about 3 days of use), but if sound quality is what you are looking for, as well as one that is portable, this is the product to get.

4 out of 5 stars Good Portable Speakers   April 23, 2008
TravlinDude (Overland Park, Kansas USA)
I the iM3C primarily while traveling. It fits nicely in a backpack and the sound is better than what you would expect for the size. It runs on AC or DC current, which is nice for those remote areas where you want more than the tiney sound of smaller systems. A couple of weeks ago I used it at a beach campfire and it was great. If you don't need to fill a large area with music, you can't go wrong. The remote leaves a bit to be desired (the base does not respond well to the remote), but otherwise I have no complaints and recommend it.
