Pyle PP-999 Phono Turntable Pre-Amp September 23, 2008 Ivan Drehspul (USA) This unit is nice and small . Easy to install although it was tricky . I had a buzz at first but decided to try and hook up the extra wire that runs with the turntable .I hooked it up to the chasy of the preamp and it was dead quiet . All was good from there .It would have been nice if it had some adjustability as the turntable sound was lower than the tuner and CD . Overall I was still satisfied .
Does an excellent job for the right price September 8, 2008 Nancy J. Couperus (USA) Finally the old amp I have been using for phono records died - and the new(er) amp I use for all my other stereo and TV needs does not have a suitable impedance/level to accept phono input. I looked for a new amp with phono inputs, but the few available are all big $$$ items - and I begrudge it the real estate and more complex wiring it would bring to my system. So when I finally found this little baby which boosts the phono level to match what is expected by the other inputs on the amp - it was just the ticket at minimal cost or extra complexity or wiring. And it does the job perfectly!
Connect your turntable to your computer to record audio files July 26, 2008 T. Barnes (USA) I bought this to record LP's to my computer for conversion to MP3's. It works great. Plug your turntable into the pre-amp and the pre-amp into the back of your sound card. Don't forget to ground the turntable to the metal chassis of your computer or you will hear a 60 HZ hum in everything. Record and convert to MP3's using the free Audacity 1.35 recorder and LAME MP3 converter and you have a better combination than the $60.00 boxes that come with a neutered version of Nero, and it's much cheaper than buying a new USB Turntable.
It gets the job done July 14, 2008 Andrew R. Thomas Like I said It gets the job done. It amplifies the sound but there is a lot of humming and noise that it makes in the process. Its not the stereo, its brand new, but it could be the record player. I don't think so because it worked on the phono input of my old stereo. Like I said it works but I might invest in something a little nicer to crank up the old Whitesnake vinyl with.
Not giving up the vinyl yet April 21, 2008 T. Brunelle Pyle PP-999 Phono Turntable Pre-Amp For very short money, I can easily use my turntable with my new receiver without phono input.
