| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description The NU Dolphin is a MP3 player tailored for swimmers and water sports enthusiasts. The design concept is to create a portable music device that can be worn by swimmers and other water sport athletes while keeping the impact on their athletic performance to minimum. Its cylindrical-shaped casing features a minimalist outlook with all control buttons located on one side, and the headphone jack on the other side. The earphone attaches to the player via a special screw-in jack to keep the device water-tight.Both the earphone and the player were tested to comply with IPx7 international water resistant standard. The earphone employs a special non-woven fabric membrane to keep the speaker vibration plate dry while maintaining a high quality sound output. The earpieces are attached with a soft silicon earplug that fits snugly in the ears. The earplugs not only keep the earphones dry but also prevent the earphones from coming loose during vigorous activities.

sounded great for the first 30 seconds September 5, 2008 B. Eichenberger (Burnsville, MN) after two lengths of the pool, the right channel got really muffled and distorted. then if stopped working and never came back. sending it back.
It's actually pretty good. August 28, 2008 Andrew Cho 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Most other water-proof MP3 players are big and bulky. I was interested int he bone conductive one but in the end I went with the Nu Dolphin since I didn't think I'd enjoy having two bricks on either side of my head. I was a little apprehensive with the purchase and still am about customer service since it's not a U.S.-based company but so far the Dolphin has been awesome. The mp3 player itself is really small and I just attach it to the middle of the goggle strap behind my head. I don't even take it off because it's kind of a hassle and just unscrew the headphones after it's dry to charge or load in different songs. The earphones are canalphones. Meaning they go deeper into your ear than your typical earbuds but once they're in you can forget about them for 2-3 hours or however long your swim. They aren't as high quality as the mp3 player itself. The wires are a bit thin but the sound quality is pretty good. I wish the volume went up higher but I listen to my music pretty loud. Almost all the way up on a 2nd gen ipod nano. I've been just putting the extra wire lengths under the goggle strap but that's probably not good for the wires so I'll try using the little clips that come with it. Overall it's a bit pricey, I got it for $90 elsewhere but definitely a worthwhile investment because swimming laps is amongst the most boring activities on earth and if music helps motivate you, why not. I don't think there is a repeat option... there are only 5 buttons total, one center and one to either direction. But you'll get used to the button arrangement where you can just press "back" at the end of a song easily. 4.5/5 is my review. It's not perfect but it's the absolute best when it comes to waterproof mp3s at the moment. It's extremely small and doesn't affect your swimming. I wish the headphone wires were the same length on both sides (pet peeve of mine). I guess they expect you to wear the dolphin on the side of your head.
waterproof?? June 24, 2008 Guilherme Mohallem I bought it a while ago and as there were no instructions the sound came out really bad till I understood the earplugsm ust be inserted all the way in. By then, they are wrecked, By the 7th time i used them thephones snapped appart ( apparently they don't like ater very much). i contacted the company but no answers. I bought another set of plugs and started to use them al the way it and they lasted a little longer, except there were a lot of bad contact and lots of times only one side worked i used it 10 times till the whole things stopped. it looked like a short circuit. the songs kept playing like in intro and then nothing worked any longer. ( i guess it happended because of the water....) if it lasted longer it would be a blessing. had a great time with it while it worked....
Really cool May 9, 2008 Vo Nguyen Mai Anh (LA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love it! now my swimming time is no longer boring. I only need to charge for a few hours and the battery lasts for 20hrs!
Just did not do it April 12, 2008 amy racecar (NC) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product just did not do it for me - it is ok at best for a waterproof mp3 player though in the ergonomics department it is great. The sad thing is you cannot set it on shuffle, it is a pain to flip past a track, and if you want to clear your goggles well you better buy the extended headphones because there is little slack to work with. Also the ear plugs do not fit well in my ears nor is the audio quality very good (I have had three previous waterproof mp3 players and the freestyle in the end wins). It has a great design but really needs a software upgrade to allow playlists etc. instead of arduous file listings while connected via USB to the device. Also might I add that NUI Digital (the vendor NOT the manufacturer) sent me one that was defective and never refunded me the shipping cost; called and harassed me at home, and in the end shipped me a second one that was also defective. I had to call the Netherlands as this Item is not distrubuted in the US by the manufacturer to get the instruction manual (NUI Digital which is an apartment in Hawaii did not include this PDF/Document). And finally determined with the help of their sales manager that the second one was also defective......I am not sure what to believe but NUI digital is a company I will never ever deal with again and I would like to thank Amazon for making this one right by me.
