5 out of 5 stars This album is AMAZING!   December 1, 2008

This album is amazing! I loved every song on the first try. I've had this CD since the debut and heard it constantly, but I'm still not sick of it! Usually it takes me a while to like a whole album and if I did, I'd get sick of it within a few weeks. I'm still not sick of the song "Crush" and it's been out for months! All his songs are pretty catchy. Not only are these songs great, but I think it's AMAZING because of his vocals. His pure voice is rare and beautiful.

Yes, this album is focused more of the teens/younger crowd, but I think there's at least one song that anyone can enjoy. This album has a variety of pop songs (not only focused on one type of pop). It's a bit of a tester album where you can see (maybe) what direction he may go in the future.

If you watched him on American Idol and was disappointed by him only singing ballads, this album is NOT only full of ballads, although there are some. And personally I think his ballads are beautiful! It really features how amazing his vocals are.

My favorites are Crush, You Can, A Little Too Not Over You & Waiting For Yesterday (although that song is sadly not on the main album). The bonus tracks are great so if you like the album, you should listen to the bonus tracks also!

Overall, I highly recommend this album. Give it a try if you haven't yet. This is a great debut!

Side note from album: He is also AMAZING at singing live.
Check out the AOL Sessions if you have time. :)

I LOVE this album it is one of the VERY rare ones that I enjoy each and every song. Anyone who listens to the words in "Crush" would be able to put themselves into the song... seeing love in a new light. "You Can" is a song of hope. "Desperate" is a song describing life for many people and it shows David's vocal range. It isn't the only song that does that. This CD is a MUST HAVE!!!

5 out of 5 stars They got the songs right for his voice   November 30, 2008

Archuleta is a wonderful natural talent. Thanks to Idol we will have him around a long time. A voice like his is hard to come by. Raw, pure talent. These songs are great because they have an innocence to them that matches Archuleta's personality, yet they still show case his incredible voice. This album sounds young, which I'm glad about.

5 out of 5 stars This cd came in above my expectations!!   November 29, 2008

I watched David on AI, and it was very clear how talented he is, so I had no doubts as to the quality of his voice on his new cd. I wasn't sure though what the quality of the songs would be like considering his age and appeal. I was so surprised by the song tracks, that I have already listened to it so many times. The flow of songs on this cd fit great together. The songwriting is not too young for the more mature listener, nor is it too mature for the younger crowd. Some stand out songs are, Crush, Touch My Hand, You Can, Desperate, and, Your Eyes Don't Lie. Those are some of my favorites, but don't let that take away from the listening pleasure of the other titles. I feel like this is a quality cd for any music lover, not just a marketing tool for AI's commercial success. David's cd is by far, in my opinion, one of the best efforts by any AI contestant this year. David is a very gifted vocalist with a great future in music. You will really enjoy listening to this one!

3 out of 5 stars Good, not great   November 29, 2008

It's a good start for David Archuleta but I guess I was expecting more. I wouldn't say it's a fresh record for a former AI contestant. Nothing special.

I know that his genre is very popular nowadays, but I really expected less of a Jordin Sparks album: pop/R&B-esque. I'm not saying that he should venture his way into rock or make an album ballad-pure. Or maybe I was hoping for the latter since the only song I really like is "To Be With You" (except for the female vocals).

Well my little cousins think that the album's "super fantastic". Good for them.

Oh and, his album is one of the few albums I like out of the AI alumni (Well just Archuleta's and Cook's actually and probably Bo's See the Light and Daughtry's).
