Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Oasis, one of the most commercially successful rock bands in history, joins Warner Bros (for North America) for the iconic British band's seventh studio album (produced by Dave Sardy), Dig Out Your Soul. The group's first album since 2005's Don't Believe The Truth, Dig Out Your Soul marks a new sound for Oasis. Hailed as the band's best work in a decade, Dig Out Your Soul offers a musical oasis for rock fans everywhere!

Album Description
With classic tracks like "Wonderwall", "Live Forever" and "Don't Look Back In Anger", Oasis are one of the biggest British bands in history. 6 successful studio albums later, Oasis has been and still is a revered and prolific reference for indie guitar music around the world and are one of the very few bands that have achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success. They have sold more than 50 million records worldwide, and have had eight UK number-one singles. Dig Out Your Soul is the seventh studio album from the band and is preceded by the highly anticipated first single 'The Shock of The Lightning'. Oasis is back once again to prove that they are not just only the biggest British band of the past decade, but will remind the world that they are and will be around for the next decade putting out another great rock record.

4 out of 5 stars NEED TO LET THIS GROW ON YOU   November 29, 2008

Great Oasis's disc are generally consistent from top to bottom. They also have a great, "can't live without" type single as well. The second LP was chock full of them and the last one had a great one in "Lyla". This CD doesn't have a truly great single type standout track. However, one should not pass this CD up because it is generally strong from top to bottom. The use of tamboura is a nice touch. These guys know how to make strong records and this one is no exception.

4 out of 5 stars The Return of the Kings of Manchester   November 28, 2008

With this cd, Oasis has proven that the success of "Don't Believe the Truth" was not a flash in the pan and that they were able to grow and change their sound, albeit at their own pace. Not ones to follow any current fashion trend, the Gallagher Brothers generously borrow from four decades of British Rock and Roll granduer to create a album that leaves the listener wanting more. The album has a much more consistant feel to it than the previous one did.

5 out of 5 stars Classic Album: Will Stand Time's Test with the Best   November 25, 2008
David H. Hiergesell (St. Leonard, MD USA)
I fell in love with the track Shock of the Lightning (Track 4) the first time I heard it. The reviews online actually alerted me to the presence of the album which I bought at (ahem) Amazon.com.

This is the tale of two artists who happen to be brothers, although you wouldn't know it due to sibling rivalry. The older, tougher brother plays guitar and writes half the album and the other, more sensitive, whiny brother sings.

That said, the tension between these two artists is so strong that it creates an amazing sonic experience almost 20 years into the band's journey. This simply never happens to any band. Check the Rolling Stones' latest release or any other band.

This is a naked homage to the Beatles and The Who. A sweet one though. Ian Gallagher the vocal brother is channeling Lennon in this album through the filter of the familiar Oasis sound. Noel Gallagher is channeling Tommy from The Who with ghostly drum rhythms from a drummer that seems to be none other than Keith Moon himself in the bodily form of Zak Starkey.

If you are a Beatles fan, the name Starkey is likely familiar to you. Ringo's son Zak was the Godson of Moon and learned to play drums at his feet. Ringo and Keith were best mates and Zak ignored dad to become the drummer for Oasis, The Who, and other projects. He is already reaching David Grohl's legendary status as a drummer.

All in all, there isn't a single bad track on the entire album. They finished off songs with exquisite detail. You will hear Magical Mystery Tour... perhaps have a psychedelic flashback yourself if you are old enough...

I think this is a album we will be listening to on classic rock stations, or whatever they're called, in 20 years. Cheers to Oasis!

(Post Script: I am not a big Oasis fan and this album blew me away.)

5 out of 5 stars A new favorite of mine   November 21, 2008

I'm no die-hard Oasis fan. I have What's the Story(Morning Glory), and that's one of my favorite CDs ever. I also have Don't Believe the Truth, and that's a very decent album. I got Dig Out Your Soul, hoping I'd like it, and I love it. I don't care for tracks 8 or 10, but the rest of it is very solid, and I found the songs stuck in my head after the first listen. I highly recommend this CD to anyone. There's such a good atmosphere to these songs, and they're all different from each other.

5 out of 5 stars Sounds Great !!   November 19, 2008

This band is unlike so many of the other one hit wonders. They just keep putting out one great album after another. This is far and away their best offering since What's The Story Morning Glory .
