Biography
Soldier of Love is only the sixth studio album the band Sade have released during their 25 year career, and the first since Lover's Rock in 2000. For Sade herself, as the lynchpin of the group's songwriting effort, it's a simple matter of integrity and authenticity.

A Great Effort by Sade September 3, 2010 Rae Atkinson (Carrboro, NC) I got this album as soon as it came out. Honestly, it took several listens before I liked it. But, now I love this album. It's been 10 years since the release of Lover's Rock and this album does not disappoint. The album starts out with the Moon and the Sky, which is a beautiful ballad. Soldier Of Love comes up second and is a strong single. I've heard it played on the radio some, which is good to hear her on the airwaves again. Next is Morning Bird which is a haunting tale of love. Next is Babyfather, which is a fun song about being her baby's daddy. I don't want to give the rest of the album away, but this album will not disappoint. Its full of great tracks that are haunting and brooding, much like Sade herself.
Sade is Great!! August 18, 2010 Jesse D. Hare Hello,
I just recieved my orders from Amazon today, they are very fast as always. Thank you Amazon!
I must say that Sade have never dissapointed me with her music, and she did it again with this album. I hope to see her in a live concert one day, not only does she have a beautiful voice, but she is also a beautiful woman. Thank you Sade!

Sade delivers August 6, 2010 Nicholas (Louisiana) Okay, so Sade takes time between albums, but when we finally get a new one, we know what we've been knowing: it's been worth the wait. This album, like all Sade albums, is one you can turn on and just listen to from beginning to end. There are no songs that really stand out as obvious radio singles, but I think that's part of the coherence and beauty of a Sade album. Listeners and fans will no doubt have individual favorites though.

I've been a fan of Sade since Diamond Life. Also, back in the 80's, there was this rapper, Big Daddy Kane, who perfectly describes Sade's new release:
"Your vocab, I'll only ignore
Be sleeping on your rhymes till I start to snore."
Please skip over "Soldier of Love". Maybe in ten years they will wake up and put out an album we want to hear again.
Just because you're a fan doesn't require you to give 5 stars to everything they do July 27, 2010 It's me (LONG ISLAND CITY, NEW YORK USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
That's the problem I see here is as I've often seen before with other artists; movie stars and singers. What happens is that people who become fans of an artist often become loyal to them to the point where they're willing to think only good of them no matter what; to the point where they're willing give 5 stars to an album they rarely listen to because their loyalty won't allow them to admit they don't really like it.
I'm a fan also, but I also try to be objective no matter how much it hurts me to say one of my fav artists made a crap album. If you liked Sade because of her down to earth seductive sound as witnessed in her previous albums, you will be soarly dissapointed with this one. In this album her seduction is gone and replaced with more conventional, childish, pop-like beats. Most of the songs are about lost love, but they are not at all soulfull. Instead they come off as desperate and depressing. There's nothing special about this album. It has no nuances. Any subpar artist could have done this. I expected more from Sade.
