| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Among the originators of the Philly soul sound of the late '60s and pre-disco '70s, the Delfonics fashioned hit after hit with the same basic formula of ultra-romantic crooning, three-part harmonies, and a supremely mellow accompaniment that came with a pillow of lush string orchestrations. The 20 Delfonics hits collected on La-La Means I Love You--including their best-known songs, "La-La Means I Love You" and "Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time)"--amount to R&B easy-listening, often soothing to the degree they become aural wallpaper. At times, though, this stuff can transcend its own schmaltz. --Roni Sarig

Philly Soul At It's Best! November 23, 2008 Dennis W. Morgan (Washington, District of Columbia United States) These songs will take you back to the time when there were too many outstanding singers and groups for us to ever own all of their hits. The Delfonics boast some of the prettiest harmonies of the Philly soul sound. Often lumped in with similar groups such as the Stylistics, Dramatics, and the Chi-Lites, the Delfonics deserve their own place among the greats of sweet soul singing and harmony. You will love this CD!
Almost perfect... June 5, 2008 Kevin Buckner (Washington, DC) Nobody loves the harmonies, melodies and memories that these guys evoke like me...BUT, there is one glaring ommision...'I Gave to You', the Ultimate Slow Jam when I was in Jr. High School, yeah, knit just out of the cleaners, BRUT, 'Fro picked out to the max and that blue light in the basement at Felicia's house (she gave the BEST house parties). That Philly sound is timeless and priceless...
Soul Music At its Best December 17, 2007 G-Funk 4ever (Rollin') 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Delfonics are a classic Philly soul group from the late 60's and 70's. Primarily a rap fan, I was not even close to being born when these guys were doing their thing, but I feel that these times were the best for R&B. Lead singer William Hart has such a dope tenor voice, and his group drop some of the best choruses I have ever heard. The choruses complement Hart's solos so well. The music is slower to mid-tempo, my favorite style in R&B. This collection is perfect for anyone reminiscing on the good old days, or for any novices like myself who want a history lesson on the legacy of soul. "Trying To Make A Fool Of Me" (1970) has to be one of my favorite soul jams of all time, or should say, favorite song of any genre of all time. I love the funky beat and sitar twangs, and the heartbreaking lyrics. The chorus is simply amazing. "La-La Means I Love You" (1968) has a simple but gorgeous chorus. The harmony is simply amazing!! The beat is sweet for cuddling with ya boo on a gloomy, cold winter day, or riding with the top down. The horns on "Ready Or Not Here I Come" add a cool effect. These guys are some of the best crooners of all time. "Tell Me This Is A Dream" has an airy, and the vocals take you sky high. Anyone digging sweet soul music with awesome vocal ranges and harmonic choruses, the Delfonics are a group that had it goin' on. Too bad they were so underrated.
I love the Delfonics!!!! November 1, 2007 Arnel (Brooklyn, NY) When I first purchased this album, I was impressed with every single track. Each song has beautiful melodies. If you like classic soul, and you like songs with substance, please pick up this cd. You won't be disappointed.
La La Means Great Music Inside July 16, 2007 Linda Hess (Spokane, WA) Delfonics fans-take a listen. Every track is here, excellent recordings, and still the lush group blend that takes you there and back. It's a smooth ride!
