5 out of 5 stars Exactly What It Claims to Be   September 27, 2008

The Iomega eGo 250GB portable hard drive works just as fast as my hard drive and has worked flawlessly for three months and I love the fact that the USB supplies the power. I highly recommend this product.

5 out of 5 stars Iomega Portable Hard Drive   September 24, 2008

I have used many other portable hard drives and most have failed within a year. I chose Iomega because of its rugged construction, and it is definitely a heftier hard drive than any of the others. Very happy with purchase.

3 out of 5 stars an "ok" product but a few deceptive points   September 24, 2008

This hd works fine but IT IS NOT THE COLOR PRESENTED IN MOST PICS. This HD is not a traditional cherry red as seen in the pictures, it is more on the pink side. So much so that I went around to stores trying to find out if we received the wrong color. We thought it could be the ruby red. The picture you see on the Iomega site and on all most all sites selling it is doctored. If you find an actual pic of it you will notice the color is different. Also, We are using this for both a pc and an Apple using osx 10.1.5 which it is said to support. this osx can only read up to 127 GIGs of Fat32 formated drive. So if you are using an older mac you might have to reformat it to two separate partitions. This will require a partitioning software. Also the retrospective software included is not nearly as nice as Acronis true image. The manual states that when you re install a backup you will have to re-activate some your programs. But the HD works fine and is a the best design I have found for portable drives.

5 out of 5 stars Good Drive in a Small Package   September 23, 2008

Used this drive on three PC's. No issues at all. It might die/lock up tomorrow, but so far it has been great! Used Ghost 2003 to image outside the OS.
Would like to have a three-year warranty instead of one year.

4 out of 5 stars REFORMAT this baby to NTFS before first use   September 22, 2008

This 250gb HD is in a beautiful little package. I picked it up to replace a WD passport that started making the noise of death after 18 months ... and it then proceeded to die. While I don't expect external drives to last forever, given that I only used the passport 1 or 2 times a week, I didn't consider replacing the portable HD with another passport. I came back to my old friend Iomega, and I am happy I did.

Easy to use right out of the box. But don't forget to reformat this puppy from FAT32 to NTFS!

A license for back-up sofware from EMC (Retrospect Express) came in my package, but I prefer to use (free) SyncToy.
