5 out of 5 stars Best electronic book reader on the market!   October 12, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

this is assuradly the best of what is currently bieng offered on the market. there are somethings that should be improved. the book cover doesn't work very well, the optinal executive book cover works better. White is not the greatest color to keep clean. By far the most needed improvement is the ability to have some file folder system, because after you have 50 or so books on your reader it gets a bit much finding items on it and after 100 or so just plain overwhellming.

5 out of 5 stars Changed my life   October 12, 2008

I travel constantly. Too many cities. Too many airports. This single product has made a big change in my ability to enjoy my reading and travel. Exceptional.

5 out of 5 stars Hated the first few pages, no cost   October 12, 2008

If you buy books, hate the first chapter and never read the rest, this is for you. The book preview is worth the cost. Download any first section of a book for free. If you like what you read, buy the rest of the book. That's it. You'll love it.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT   October 12, 2008

I can't say enough about the Kindle. No more lugging books around or cluttering up my house with them. Their customer service is actually excellent. Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars When will the critical mass acceptance by publishers make place?   October 12, 2008

Okay I could be critical considering the cost of the Kindle but my hope is that future versions of the Kindle will improve and that more publishers will allow you to read your ebooks you've already bought, having spent a pretty penny on them already, allowing them to be readable on Kindle.

Yes, I do agree that the buttons are a bit easy to accidentally tap I do agree that there were two reasons I had to return my Kindle. One was that the my books that have DRM would not allow me to read them on the Kindle. And, two, the screen froze and would not shut off even with being unplugged (it apparently was still charged - which I guess says that it keeps a charge for a LONG time).

Either way, I don't know, minus the quirky problems, I DID LOVE THE PORTABILLITY of it. Learning about ebook readers was a new avenue of information for me, so I was excited to see all that was out there. But, at the same time, I was somewhat disappointed by the pricey PDF ebooks I already paid for, not having willing publishers to work something out with Amazon, so I could have my book converted in order to read it on the Kindle.

It is still a developing process. I thought I would be able to just read MS Documents but that's not completely as I expected, trying to transfer files to the kindle wasn't always recognized. Other than that, for documents I had written or printed as PDF's to read, make notes on or edit, such as blurbs, blogs, articles...I could convert those and read them on the subway which, I loved!

But a big problem for me, was existing ebooks I had already paid a lot of money for, that I NEEDED to read and wanted to read, but publishers were not willing to do a little customer service in this instant moment.

I'm not to unhappy, once the publishers work something out with Kindle, I will be a very happy camper, until then I had to send it back. Amazon was incredibly wonderful and helpful with that process which was nice. They do charge return shipping but considering it's future potential paying the return shipping to see that it was a product that could work great for my life once more cooperative relations exist between publishers and Amazon, this return shipping cost was a very small price to pay for the hopes of something great to look forward to as mass acceptance comes common place with book publishers.
