I ordered this as a gift for my husband who commutes daily AND travels a bit. I figured he could have a couple of books "going" and also get the news etc. He wasn't interested. Selfishly, I thought I'd keep it and give it a whirl. It's definitely cool, but cool doesn't justify me keeping it as I don't commute or travel much. I can get my news fix online, and I can stack my books next to my bed. My only legitimate complaint, however, is that you cannot reference page numbers. i.e., if you are discussing a book and someone says, "In chapter two (or on page 72), it said . . . " you can't easily get there. I returned it. When the price comes down significantly, perhaps I'll reconsider for the convenience.

Though pricey, I love the convenience of ordering and immediately receiving books on my Kindle. Hopefully older titles and more magazines will become available as the product becomes more popular.
The screen is easy to read and doesn't strain my eyes at all, and I like the adujustability of the fonts. My only complaint about the Kindle's layout is the arrangement of the foreward/back buttons. There are too many of them and they are too large so it's easy to hit them by mistake.
The case doesn't hold the machine securely enough and could use an upgrade, as well.

I saw the Kindle on Oprah and knowing my grown children buy a book every week, decided this was the perfect gift. We visited my daughter in Austin this week and took her "early" Christmas gift to her to see her reaction. (I thought she would be so impressed that ol' Mom was up on the latest gadget.) She opened it and immediately knew what it was.......we didn't see much of her for the rest of the visit....just joking. She loves it! Now my son will be the next recipient. Can't wait for his reaction. Thank you Mr Kindle! Ho! Ho! Ho1

The Kindle is a fantastic product. I love to read more than one book at a time and the Kindle makes that so easy. I also read very quickly so when I finish one book I can easily download another book and I do not have to leave the house. I have found the lookup function particularly useful. I love the fact that you can download a sample to read to see if it is a book you would enjoy. It is also handy that you give me other options within the same genre as books I have previously purchased. I have found new authors that I had not heard of or tried before.
I think if I had a complaint it would be that I hit the next page button by mistake way too often. There is not a very good place to hold the book on the right hand side.
Overall - this is one of the best purchases I have made since I am an avid reader.
