Sounds A Bit Like Méhdi February 16, 2008 David Krutcher (Pompano Beach,FL) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
You'll love this if you enjoy Méhdi, Enya or other soothing music artists. It is the very essence of good music. So tranquil, yet so spirited, this cd is a refreshing break from my well-worn collection, I just keep wanting to listen to it over and over again. I am amazed! It reminds me somewhat of Secret Garden's older works, but still very unique. This is music to the soul. Absolutely relaxing, as well. Also Recommeded: Méhdi ~ Paradise..A True Gem... Mckennitt is anawesome talent February 14, 2008 H. R. Rolen (St. Charles, MO USA) Great and touching lyrics. Fantastic music & Orcastration. Great variety of instruments and multicultral sound Every arrangement is a history lesson.
Unethical Monopolies February 14, 2008 Carl Hilton Jones 1 out of 10 found this review helpful
I think it is unconscionable that every one in the world is allowed to download this album in lossless "flac" format but, due to some kind of Amazon licensing deal, those of us in the US are only allowed to download it in the inferior MP3 format.
I am at a loss... February 12, 2008 ol'guy ... how to adequately describe how beautiful and sublime this album is. My tastes tend to run towards (much) heavier sounds with occasional forays into other (softer) music. I came to a complete stop with "An Ancient Muse" and couldn't get up until it was over. From the very first note until it's finish you will find yourself enveloped in a wonderful, musical dream.
Fusion Foray January 14, 2008 kennykentucky (Louisville, KY USA) Listening to any McKennitt is a musical journey of exploration and mysticism, mixing of east and west. I always feel like I am wandering with her when I listen to her unique arrangements and siren voice. This CD extends the extraordinary "The Mask and the Mirror" CD in a loving and sublime way. If you had not heard that album, you would think this is the best one. Consequently, I think it is lovely and enchanting, but does not go beyond "The Mask and Mirror" which was so revolutionary.
